PRESIDENT PETER'S THOUGHTS

Last Monday’s meeting was a good one but it was hard to get a word in edgeways because everyone was chatting. We had three PDG,s present – the most senior , our own Harold, our guest speaker David Rands and our IPDG Gina Growden – How many Rotary Clubs can claim that honour! Another welcome guest Andre Hariman from Chatswood Sunrise, who is keen to win our Poker Tournament.

David was our guest speaker on behalf of the 100th anniversary of The Rotary Foundation. Apart from those who donated the nominated $26.50 being the original starting fund for the Foundation (amounting to over $600.00), both Warren and Celia donated larger individual amounts. More of David’s address below.
Well it has been a year coming; has dominated all the news networks and is about to end – thank goodness. What is it ? The US Presidential Election.

What Else is Happening:
The GOOD NEWS – No one has claimed the $1000.00 first prize of our Club’s Trifecta .  All members are asked to forward the money that they collected from selling their Trifecta tickets (OR selling) or to transfer it by EFT to the Club’s  Westpac Account BSB 032 298 A/c 394298
Poker Night is just about here – for a night of fun and skill – SATURDAY NIGHT 6pm for last minute instruction ; 7pm ACTION.
BBQ this weekend.   Help needed for the afternoon shift.
Members voted to direct funds from the Xmas Carols BBQ 11 Dec to local Women’s Refuges, Delvena, Lane Cove and Mary’s House, North Sydney.
The Tree of Joy commences in December at Chatswood, our nominated charities are so far 1.local women’s Refuges, 2, James Milson Nursing Home (where Paul Ogden spent his last days) and 3. Watch this space.
International Grants Committee meet following next week’s regular meeting.  Then a  Board Meeting Tuesday night at 6pm in Northbridge.
Philip showed off his colourful flag of the Rotary Motor Biker’s (Not Bikies) Group and informed us of his election as General Secretary of that body. Well done!

Regards Peter
