Our Rotary Club’s Board Meetings have been, and always are open for any member to attend and see exactly what projects the Club is currently pursuing.
This week was a most important meeting, as we inducted a new member, Kate Riddle from Crows Nest! Welcome Kate, I hope you enjoy your journey with Rotary.
And, I would like to thank member Owen Houston for stepping into the Treasurer’s position from 31 Dec 2017, and also Simon Baggage for his previous service in the position.
See you next on Monday!
Cheers Alon

'where Australia collides with Asia'
This talk follows the epic voyages of the natural history of; Continent Australia, Joseph Banks, Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.
·The voyage of Continent Australia after it breaks away from Antarctica 50 million years ago with its raft of Gondwanaland flora and fauna and begins its journey north towards the equator.
·The voyage of Joseph Banks on the Endeavour who with Daniel Solander became the first trained naturalists to describe the unique flora and fauna of Continent Australia that had evolved during its 30 million years of isolation.
·The voyage of Charles Darwin on the Beagle, who after his observations in South America and the Galapagos Islands, sat on the banks of the Coxs River in New South Wales and tried to rationalize his belief in the idea of biblical creation and understand the origin of species.
·The voyage of Alfred Russel Wallace, who realized that the Lombok Strait in Indonesia represents the biogeographical boundary between the fauna of Asia and those of Australasia.
Member John, presented an international toast to the Rotary Club of Bangkok South, Thailand.

Owen Houston has recently taken the Treasurer’s reins from Simon Baggage
A new venue suggestion for our meetings, the Baptist Church hall, Willoughby Road, Crows Nest. After discussion it was suggested we try the hall out on 26 February for one visit to see if we all like it. So please put this in your diarys!
The local Superintendent of Police, suggested the Club get involved with the Mercy Foundation who assist homeless people when they are allocated accommodation by the Dept of Housing. Member Sue explained that a similar thing is ‘Home in a Box’ which supplys small items that would be too expensive for the homeless.
The Club’s input to an International project in India, to build 300 toilets, is progressing well.
The Club’s project and District Grant, to provide ‘white goods’ to the local Taldamunde refuges is pursuing well and the remaining Grant moneys will be spent in the near future on the supply and fit of a new split level air conditioner. The Club was reminded that District Grant applications for this financial year close soon and the Club is now considering new projects!
The Club’s BBQ roster is running well, thanks to Bruce and Howard and others. Bunnings BBQs are one of the Club’s main income earners whose profits go towards our local and international projects each year.
