OUR MEETING LAST MONDAY
Once again, the Rotary Club of Crows Nest continues it's weekly presentation of quality speakers. Laura Gilmore of Hearing Australia gave us a timely reminder of how some people can tell if they are losing their hearing. Laura explained that 60% of people over the age of 60 have hearing loss, and 70% over 70.
Laura is a Community Hearing Advisor at Australian Hearing, for the Chatswood and Dee Why areas. Her role is to promote Australian Hearing's services by presenting at local community groups, booking and attending events with the Australian Hearing kiosk and Hearing bus, and performing regular hearing screenings at medical practices.
Laura explained how to identify if you think your hearing is not as good as it used to be. Laura said there are telltale signs for people to look for, one being missing the beginning of sentences, or turning the TV volume up, higher than the other family members need. Laura also held hearing test after the meeting, and suggested that all members should consider booking in with her to have their hearing tested in one of the Australian Hearing facilities, such as the one on the corner of Victor Street and Victoria Avenue, Chatswood.
