Just letting all members know that our club has established a subcommittee, comprising of Peter Coote, Mark Staples, Howard Sullivan, Angelo Raveane, Tiffiny Kellar, Claire Pryce and myself to study two potential International Grants. One is an agricultural sustainability project in East Timor through AFAP, and the second one, a sustainable rainwater harvesting and greenhouse installation project in Kenya through So They Can.
For these projects to have the best chances of success, we are trying to get other clubs in our area interested also.
As the scope of the projects evolve and the global grants are finalised for submission, presentations will be made at club meetings in the near future.
Cheers, Ian

Saturday 4 June marks the last scheduled BBQ at Bunnings Artarmon for the current six months. It will be the 11th occasion this half-year that Bunnings customers have had the opportunity to taste how great are our snags! The aroma simply brings the crowds.
Fundraising is integral to the success of any charitable organisation. The Rotary Club of Crows Nest is no exception.
In addition to the regular barbecue at Bunnings, Artarmon, the club coordinates the sale of Melbourne Cup Trifecta tickets There will be more news about the latter shortly.
These events not only help us raise money to assist others, but it also increases awareness in the community of Rotary and our Rotary Club of Crows Nest.
Our members have great fun being chefs and shop attendants every few weeks and the club as a whole owes all its volunteers a debt of gratitude. We look forward to seeing you again at Bunnings in the next six months.
There certainly is more to Rotary than just great sausages.
Dudley Mercer, Chair of the district Australian Rotary Health Committee has just had some great news from ARH Director PDG Graeme Davies. District 9685 is one of the TOP donors to ARH this year with around $66K being exceeded by only two other districts.
On looking at the statistics he is even more excited because there are still about 40 clubs yet to send on their donations to ARH. A lot of clubs are yet to finalise their donations, so we may in fact double the $66K. If each club donated $500 of their hard earned funds we would, as a District, donate some $35K to ARH – we are well on the way to achieving this.
Keep in mind that ARH funds research ONLY in Australia BUT that the results of that research is made available to the whole world – what a wonderful gift we help make come true.
