For a second week, President Peter is away on official Crows Nest Rotary business, with Celia, until 7 October. That is, for at least part of that period he, Ian & Angelo have been investigating potential projects and negotiating with local Rotary Clubs and Districts to join us.
We all miss our President! But, the Club goes on! Planning, proposing and producing! Our last BBQ at Bunnings needed additional purchases of onions and bread etc, because the demand was so great! A very successful event, and we have another this Saturday! Be there or be square! $2.50 a sausage sandwich!!
And our Trifecta Melbourne Cup tickets are selling well, and a further session of stapling took place this week!
Just a reminder, next Monday week 3rd October, there is no meeting as the day is a Public Holiday!
OUR SPEAKER ON MONDAY 26 SEPTEMBER
Bridgette Glover is an avid reader, gardener, and fisher woman who enjoys channeling her inner actress several times a week when speaking to Rotary and Probus groups through her work as Education and Research Officer with the Macular Disease Foundation.
She has a background in Indiginous education and previously enjoyed teaching primary students on an island girt by crocodile infested waters in the Northern Territory. She has a passion for community-led social justice, and believes a quality education is an infinitely powerful weapon for overcoming adversity and injustice
Once again our Program Director Mark has excelled and we had another great speaker!
Aidan Seeto is an Honarary director and treasurer of Crows Nest Main Street which has been set up to assist North Sydney Council with the promotion and upkeep of the Mainstreet business area.
Aidan, a chartered accountant, has been operating his accounting and tax advisory business in Crows Nest for the past six years. Aidan explained that since 1995, North Sydney Council has placed a special levy upon all commercial rate payers in Crows Nest with the intention of spending that money on the modernisation of Crows Nest commercial area creating that 'Village' atmosphere. Aidan is now Chairperson of the Crows Nest Main Street, a Pty company who submits proposals for Crows Nest to North Sydney Council to spend money in Crows Nest.
An interesting speaker again! We now know why Crows Nest has the atmosphere we appreciate. (All they need do now is sort out the parking,,,, but we didn't mention that to Aidan). Club members present really appreciated Aidan's presentation!
