Hello, Members and our Rotary Friends receiving this eBulletin.
This is my first message to you as the new President of Crows Nest Rotary, for the year 2021-22.
My thanks to our Past President Ian Pocock for his successful year and his help and assistance to me on handover of the reins.
Its good to announce that our Club has already accelerated its way forward into 2021-22;
Community; not only a new application for a District Grant, to fund a new project ‘Video Games and Community’ for the organization, ‘Canteen’, but also
International; assistance to Mosman Rotary who are sending thousands of Masks, in a shipping container to Timor Leste who are in dire need of PPE (personal protective equipment) to combat the increase in COVID19 infections.
And concerning Fund Raising; our Bunnings BBQ Saturdays, are currently on hold due to the Sydney Lockdown, but member Howard is still busy, putting together the rosters of members and volunteers ready to man the COVID19 safe cooking of 'Sausage Sizzles', as soon as COVID19 restrictions allow.
And members Angelo and Mark are busy preparing the launch of our Melbourne Cup Trifecta Tickets. Yes, this year you can raise money for your charitable organisation, buy participating in the selling of Melbourne Cup Trifecta tickets, which offer a prize of $1,000 to the winner. If you are interested, email us;
On occasions we have a member tell us a bit more about themselves. This week it will be our incoming President Philip. No Bio as we do not want to steal his thunder !
Last Monday 28th June, our planned President's Changeover and Pride of Workmanship Awards evening was scuttled by a Covid19 14 day Lockdown.
President Philip played a video of a presentation at this year's District Assembly.
Evan Burrell, our District Public Image co-ordinator.
Evan explained how Social media should be used to create positive stories, which focus on how we Help people, rather than a "club" that raises funds.
A strategy is needed to explain the benefits of FaceBook, and get Club Buy-in. Visual media mindset means (interesting) pictures & not stories, try to stop "strollers".
Help our community, rather than Come to our meeting. Don't have pictures of people eating, doing nothing or the backs of their heads. Quality and not quantity!
Recommended content included key activities, connections to community, speakers, Areas of focus. Tips included don't overload, relevant to audience, story with pictures, non-controversial, stay positive and have fun !
