PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Hello, Members and our Rotary Friends receiving this eBulletin.
This weeks our Club supplied two Baby Monitors to Mary's House.   Very sophisticated machines with audio and video feedback.  Our Club is always happy to assist our local community!

This week I mention the very important annual Red Shield Appeal, of the Salvation Army officially held on 29th May 2022.  This year their theme is ‘Leave no one in need’  In years gone past our Club has walked the streets door knocking with others collecting donations, but nowdays, online donations have replaced door knocking, and you can donate by clicking on the link below, if you donate, you get your Tax Invoice instantly, ready for your tax return.  Salvation Army are a major player on the North Shore, helping those people who are not as ‘well healed’ as others.  Do it now! Please Click on this link and donate!

On Monday 27th June we have our Presidential Changeover Dinner from 6.30pm, and coupled with a presentation of ‘Pride of Workmanship Awards.   Everyone is invited, please let our Secretary know for catering purposes, see flyer below.
Our next meeting will be face to face at the Union Hotel Nth Sydney on Monday 30th May at 12.30pm.  Come join us!  The food at the Union is great! The following Monday on Zoom on 6th June 2022, at 12.30pm

Covid is still around in our community, so stay safe, be careful, wear your mask!

RI Toast:   No toast this week.

Today, President Philip informed us he will be moving to Queensland in July.

At the zoom meeting today, I advised the members present, that for various reasons, my wife Cathie and I have decided to relocate ourselves permanently to Queensland, in July 2022.
I have enjoyed my 6 to 7 years in our Club, and especially being your 2021-22 President.  Crows Nest is a fabulous Club, with great camaraderie and committed members.  Together you have made my year as President a rewarding, fun experience, and I thank you all for your support and encouragement.
The Rotary theme this year, has been ‘Serve to Change Lives’.  Over the last 11 months, with Covid Lockdowns and restrictions, our Club has done its best to sow the seeds of changing lives in our community, but changing anyones life is a long term commitment, and needs to be continued over the future years.
If you are agreeable, I would like to remain a member for the time being and will be joining your Zoom Monday Meetings each fortnight.
I look forward to continuing my relationship with a strong vibrant Club.
I hope I will see you all at our Presidents Changeover on Monday evening 27th June 2022 !
Yours in Rotary Service
Philip Smith
Your President 2021-22 Crows Nest Rotary

The club wishes Philip & Cathie all the best for the future and thanked him for his service. We will farewell him on June 27th and look forward  to keeping in touch via Zoom.

Philip also showed us two short videos of interest.

Firstly Taldumande Youth Services talking about what they do for the 12,000 homeless youths on the streets of Sydney every night.
