PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Dear Rotarians,

A very lively, friendly and  interactive meeting today.

Some good news to share . Howard’s Mum celebrated her 100th Birthday , a wonderful achievement. Congratulations.Congratulations also to Richard and Jenny on the marriage of their son Thomas to Debra.

Our Guest Speaker today was Domingo Gomes from Dili East Timor .

Gomes was here to oversee how RYPEN is conducted in District 9685. He will be the coordinator for RYPEN in East Timor.  Gomes told us he gained valuable information on how to better run RYPEN when he returned home. One outstanding point Gomes tried to convey was that the youth of Timor wish to give back to their communities and are doing so by overseeing community based projects eg Mangrove planting to help stop erosion and improve the water ecology. This was his first overseas trip and he was overwhelmed but excited to have come .

Please save Tuesday April 30th as this will be the date of our 50th Anniversary Celebration. More news on this soon.

Thank You Celia for fashioning our Conference Gnome . He looks fantastic. Must keep this top secret until the Conference !!

Next Monday Roger from Mary’s House will be our Guest Speaker .

Hope to see you there.

 President Sue
