Well, wasn’t it great being back in action at the BBQ last Saturday 10th October 2020.
Not easy, a six month layoff, all the operational changes due to COVID, and under the close supervision of Bunnings, our Club was first off the rank, with observers from many of the Clubs who are following over the next few weeks.
It took us a while to sort out the most efficient way of operating and obeying the social distancing rules, but after an hour or two we settled down into our usual routine, with the result, we came out with a $1400 profit! A big thanks to all involved for making it happen, and we look forward to an even better result in a fortnight’s time when we get to go again on 24th October.
And while we’re on fund raising, don’t forget to start selling your Trifecta tickets, as the Melbourne Cup is only three weeks away. The take up from other Clubs has been rather slow this year, so we really need to lift a gear and sell those tickets.
So in the meantime, stay safe!
Important Notice; Taldumande Youth Services is seeking New Linen! This is always something that Taldumande uses up frequently. Unfortunately, due to health reasons we are unable to pass on secondhand linen, but if you can, please help! The Club will collate and distribute to Taldumande. Sizes required and items are shown in the Story below!
Bunnings has given the Club two Saturdays in October, 10th and 24th. Due to the pandemic, there are lots of changes to how we serve and deliver our sausage sandwiches, but the changed process worked well on the 10th. Please support Howard in his quest to get 5 per shift.
Next Monday's Meeting 19th October, we have Edmund McCombs from Lend Lease to present 'the Lend Lease Foundation' and its activities.
When Dick Dusseldorp and Stuart Hornery set up the Lendlease Foundation in 1983, the objective was to nurture the wellbeing of employees and their families, and support employees involvement in charitable and community affairs. It was a goal ahead of its time and over the years it continues to prove to be something that makes us special.
We partner with approved charities and community bodies in which we have an involvement.
Our global programs create a unified community with a common focus - to use our collective knowledge, skill and passion to enrich the lives of our people and the community.
The Lendlease Foundation has evolved its wellbeing portfolio of programs to address the four pillars of the Lendlease Health and Wellbeing Framework. External partnerships are key to the development delivery of these programs.
Supporting Healthier Minds
Developing Healthier Bodies
Building Healthier Places

Last Meeting Monday12th October 2020 North Sydney Council's Martin Ellis presented Council's current initiatives.
Mr Ellis is Council's Director of Community and Library Services. Martin spoke of how Council supports several organisations that the Club support, such as Taudumande Youth Services, and Mary's House. Council support the supply of houses for homeless and others, with 72 Houses, owned by Council but managed by Link Services; "The majority of housing that Link Housing provides is Social Housing, provided in partnership with the NSW Government – using the one application process, Housing Pathways. Social Housing is available to people on very low to low incomes".
Council also runs 'Planet X Youth Centre', in St Leonards Park, a drop-in centre for young people aged 12 to 18 years who are living, working or studying in the North Sydney area. It is a relaxed, safe environment for young people to socialise, have fun and make use of the free facilities.
Council has approximately 87,000 residents, which increases to 170,000 each business day with the influx of workers in the office buildings of North Sydney, so the logistics of services are difficult to predict.
The Crows Nest Centre, is Council's principle supplier of Aged and Disabled Services which include the Community Kitchen supplying Meals on Wheels, Linen Services and the Community Transport Service that caters for residents transport.
Some of Council's services, child care services, long day and after school care, and community centres are run by non-profit organisations and volunteers whose income comes from room hire and markets.
