My thanks to Past President Ian for standing in for me last Monday. Once again commitments were against my attendance. However the meeting went well and Ian went around the tables asking everyone to update their previous weeks activities especially the progress made with the Club’s Rotary projects. President Elect, Sue, announced the date of the Annual Changeover Meeting, Tuesday 26 th June 2018, so please put this date in your diary now! We have a Board Meeting Monday 4th June, so I hope you will all be there as this is my last Board Meeting for my year as President. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my Board Members for all the hard work they willingly put in over the last 11 months. Being your President has been an easy year for me, because truly, it is the Directors and members and our volunteers (especially on the BBQ Saturdays) who really do all the work! I think we have had a very active, successful year, and at the Changeover night I will announce and remind you all, of our Club's achievements for 2017 to 2018.
Monday the 28th of May 2018 and our Speaker will be parent Peter Hojgaard-Olsen, who will be explaining the benefits and experiences of Rotary Youth Exchange. Peter's son, Phillip is currently in Denmark.
Last Monday's Meeting, 21 May 2018,
The International Toast was made by member Howard, to the Rotary Club of Mauritius. Howard explained that in the near future he would be flying to Madagascarbecause it was the only way in to Mauritius, and he would be visiting the Rotary Club of Mauritius on a Wednesday evening.
The Meeting was an Open Forum, where Directors, Members and Guests, were invited to speak.
Past President Ian mentioned that the 'Working With Children' requirement for members, has been changed slightly by Rotary International. The change would be a further declaration on a 'Form 3'. This new requirement would be forwarded to all members in the near future.
President Elect Sue, announced that an application for a District Grant had been made for the proposed project for 'Marys House' Refuge/s, for the supply of new bedroom and other furniture.
Member Tom Sweeny announced that there were 20 people coming to the Wednesday night performance of 'Strictly Ballroom' and to date the show was running tremendously!
