Last Monday we had the pleasure of Leonie from OZ Harvest. I was blown away by the stats Leonie presented, particular that we produce twice as much food that is required by Australia, with half of fruit & veges going to waste and 800,000 children going to school without breakfast. Very educational. (more details below).
Last week, Sue, Kate & I attended a meeting with Northbridge Rotary to discuss the potential D-Café project. Very early stages with more feelers being put out to determine the need and possible venues. Sue & I have already reviewed the Crows Nest Community centre as a possible venue. Once we have more information we will have a planning session with other interested cluster clubs and the Fiona, the key driver of the Upper North shore Rotary D-Café.
It was with great pleasure & congratulations to hear that Harold is now the Chairman of ROMAC, Australia. I’m sure he has the club’s full support.
Wishing Angelo & Sue a great holiday. Look forward to seeing the rest of you next Monday.

As you are probably aware, 2019-20 Rotary International President Mark Daniel Maloney and his wife Gay will be visiting Sydney in September this year. Mark is very keen to meet as many Rotarians as he can whilst he is here, so there will be a special dinner to be hosted by Mark and his wife Gay, inviting Rotarians in Districts 9685, 9675 and 9670 to attend.
This is a special opportunity for Rotarians to meet and be inspired by our world leader and at the same time enjoy a 5-star meal at one of Sydney’s premier restaurants on beautiful Sydney Harbour. It’s very rare for us to have a World President visit us, particularly during his term of office, and we are very privileged that Mark and his wife Gay will be hosting the dinner. This is definitely an opportunity not to be missed!

a Leading Food Rescueoperation from waste in Restaurants today
Food waste is a global issue, from paddock to plate, taking up to 20% of landfill.
In Australia, we waste more than 5 million tonnes of food each year, yet 0ne in nine people don't have enough to eat
they involve more than 3000 organisations and charities to collect and distribute the waste food, which requires prompt turnaround. But still, require large fridges and freezers.
Run by charity donations and more recently Government Grants
Focus on educating children in schools the importance of avoiding waste food by a number of different programmes, like FEAST, which inspires kids to eat healthily, waste less and be Change-Makers in the local community. The curriculum-aligned programme includes detailed lesson planning tools and recipes that can be made in the classroom, making it accessible to children and school communities
