Tish Peiris
Disability Rights
Since 2007 Australia signed and ratified in 2008, the UN convention on disability rights yet Australia is one of the worst ranked OECD countries on employment of people with a disability ranking 21 out of 29 with 45% living in or near poverty.

Though the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is not the only solution for fixing this disgraceful situation, it has the potential to help alleviate the embarrassing suffering witnessed over the years.  Since sustaining her injury, Tish Peiris witnessed virtually the exact same story in other countries.  In Canada last year she attended a disability rights conference in Vancouver and paid for a filmed one hour film that she put on YouTube.  The similarities in the stories are startling and Canada has started campaigns along the same lines as the every Australian counts and the NDIS in Australia.
